Farnborough International Air Show 2006

I had the privilege to attend the FIAS during June 2006 in the UK. It was cold and rainy, but I enjoyed every bit of it, especially the aerial displays by the Red Arrows and the MiG-29. Unfortunately I did not take many photo's, since I video taped most of the show.

The star of the air show was the huge Airbus 380 with a very apt registration no of F-WWOW!! I had to stand very far away to get the whole plane to fit. Also included a close up of the engines, with some people, to give some sense of the size of this plane.

The amazing, and strange, Bell-Boeing V-22 Osprey on its first international self deployment.

A mock up of the futuristic looking Northrop Grumman X-47B UCAV (Unmanned Combat Aerial Vehicle) was also on display. Looks like the plane in the movie "Stealth".

There was even a South African Air Force (SAAF) Westland Super Lynx 300 on display.

The infamous Northrop Grumman RQ-4 Global Hawk. Just ask our Taliban friends in Afghanistan.

An oldie, but still one of my favourites, the McDonnell Douglas F-15E Strike Eagle. I thing the Strike Eagle is a real badass incarnation of the F-15.
